Mika Miettinen is senior vice president of research and development (R&D) for Vantive. In this role, Miettinen leads global research and product development activities across all Vantive R&D centers. He is responsible for ensuring that research and product development investments and priorities are aligned with clinical and commercial priorities. He fosters cross-functional culture and processes to develop safe, effective, and high-quality products to meet the needs of the patients and customers.
Previously, Miettinen was vice president of new product innovation and technology enabled solutions at Siemens Healthineers company. Prior to that, he spent over 25 years at Varian Medical Systems in various leadership roles including engineering, program management, product management, marketing, RA/QA and corporate functions including acquisition integration. Miettinen has gained deep knowledge in the medical device industry and has led several breakthrough innovations in oncology and diabetes management.
Throughout his career, Miettinen has led organizational transformations, focusing on end-to-end solutions that improved outcomes for patients. He is passionate about continuous improvement and learning to unlock the potential of matrix organizations.
Miettinen holds a master’s degree in science in nuclear and alternative energy physics, as well as applied mathematics, from Helsinki University of Technology.
